Halba, Akkar suffers from serious traffic jams in the afternoon for several hours for many reasons.
The reasons behind this include the fact that the roads are too small to accomodate such a large number of cars. The citizens believe that the problem is coming from the municipalities. It is the responsibility of the municipality to apply traffic laws and give tickets to those who disobey. The roads should also be made wider, there should also be more parking lots to avoid double parking. For example, one shop owner on the road admitted to the fact that his store contributes to the traffic, but he also claims that there is no other solution since there is no where else to park.
The traffic also affects his business since his customers cannot park in front of the store. These traffic jams cause lots of noise for those living around the streets, not to mention lots of pollution that can harm the inhabitants. Moreover, it takes a very long time to get from one place to another. Citizens are not only losing time, but also money to pay for the fines.
